get a star. Players roll a dice, and travel how many spaces the dice tells them to. Landing on diffrent spaces makes diffrent things happen. There are six playable boards in Mario Party 8. There are 5 starters and 1 unlockable. The main point of traveling on the board is to get the star. Some boards have just 1 path the players follows, while other boards have many different paths. You can also buy candy at candy shops, and which eaten, does diffrent things.
There are six boards. However, one of them (that being DK's Treetop Temple) follows the classic Mario Party series formula.
